Blog Buddy

April 29, 2008

I’ve given my cousin Ben some press on my blog before- he himself is a blogger at http://www.bengarvey.com. He lives in New Jersey so I don’t get to see him often but this weekend was an exception as his brother (and my fellow cousin) Jake got married in Illinois (see fab photos in entry below).

Well Ben deserves yet another blog entry devoted to him, as he gave one of the greatest best man speeches I have ever heard. Let’s just say that it involved salmon, midwestern girls, and mating habits- I think that sums it up. He also tied in a very touching tribute regarding his father, and my uncle, the late Mark Garvey.

I appreciate people that have a way with words, especially those with the courage to get up in front of a roomful of people and talk from the heart. Not only did Ben do a great job, but I think Uncle Mark would have been exceptionally proud. The room was awash with emotion and excitement, and it’s rather difficult to give a speech that leaves people captivated by your story. In this case, Ben hit it out of the park.

Here’s a flippin sweet pic of Ben and I partying it up at the shindig:

Birthday girl + her little girl

April 29, 2008

For some reason, my blog was not cooperating with posting photos yesterday. I wanted to include one with Jen’s birthday blog so I’m just going to let it continue on into today. This is one of my favorite pictures…it’s the birthday girl and her little girl, Delaney, who is also my goddaughter. Yet another reason why I love Jen- she’s brought children into my life to spoil with the births of Aidan and Delaney. When my brother Ryan and Jen first got engaged, my sister and I became sooo excited thinking about the day to come in which they would have kids.

When that day finally arrived…my whole world changed…for the better.
