Post Secret…got one?

Awhile back I saw a segment on The Today Show about a website called Post Secret. It is a blog (or ‘community art project’ according to Wikipedia) where upon people can annonymously send in handmade postcards disclosing their personal secrets.

Some of the entries are very disturbing…and overall just sad. Some will make you laugh (like one in which a person is afraid of toliets because he/she keeps imagining a toliet that eats bums!). But mostly, these secrets make you think…about how the people would react had these secrets been let out by their holders.

So I decided to let a few of my secrets out in the open:

1. In about 3rd or 4th grade, I lied in a math contest and said that I correctly guessed twenty multiplication flash cards. I did it because I wanted to beat out this dude in my class that was a real jerk, but rather gifted at Math. I not only ‘won’ the contest, I got announced in front of the entire school at an assembly and applauded for my accolade…and no one ever found out that I only guessed sixteen flashcards correct. In a strange and unrelated incident, the ‘jerk/mathematician’ died in a car accident in 2006.

2. I am afraid of squirrels.

Got a secret you want to share?

Geeze Kelly! That would be an awesome Post Secret entry. In fact, if I read it on there I’d assume it was a made up story.
