On a side note

August 11, 2008

I always get asked if my eyelashes are real- they are! This weekend they were out of control and I couldn’t stop staring at them thinking that they almost looked cartoon-like- it made me smile REALLY BIG:

My top 10 picks for Obama’s running mate (veep)

August 11, 2008

1. Oprah (a.k.a. Chicago Jesus)
2. My cousin Ben (read his blogs, it makes more sense than you think. Bonus: he plays guitar)
3. Bill Cosby (why not?)
4. A ‘79 Pinto (obvious)
5. Michael Phelps (goal-oriented individual capable of making history 8X over)
6. Steve Carrell (seriously, who doesn’t like Steve Carrell?)
7. Jello pudding pops (see also Bill Cosby)
8. Ellen Degeneres (female + gay + hilarious = win/win/win situation)
9. A chicken burrito (delicious and satisfying- I don’t see what the problem is)
10. A pack of Marlboro Lights (if I’m not mistaken, the cigs are already a running mate of his)

Quote of the day

August 11, 2008
Go ahead with confidence

I will follow you into the dark

“My greatest mistake, the fault for which I can’t forgive myself, is that one day I ceased my obstinate pursuit of my own individuality.”

Oscar Wilde

Weekend of jam-packed fun; too much wine

August 11, 2008

This weekend was an absolute blast, as I was able to relish in all things fun. Friday night, Fitz and I met up with the Bruhn’s, our Vegas-now-Midwest pals at Martini Park for some cocktails and catch-up talk. This was also an occasion for Jenna and I to swap details and theories regarding the Twilight series(as you may recall from previous blogs, she is the one who converted me to nerd-ism just a mere few weeks ago). Fitz and Adam proceeded to roll their eyes and discuss how bad the Chicago Bears are this season. Jenna and I committed to attending the Twilight film  opening-night screening at midnight. Fabulous.

Saturday began with a workout and typical weekend errands (groceries, dry cleaning, COFFEE). Then Fitz and I hopped a train to Ravinia park to catch the BoDeans, along with my brother, sister-in-law, sister, sister’s boyfriend, and cousins Holly and Jake. I officially deemed the evening ‘Wine-fest Dance Party 2008.’
I’m pretty sure at one point I was spinning around, kicking my legs and flailing my arms simliar to that of Elaine from Seinfeld (think thumbs and kicks), all the while showcasing my purple lips and tongue from all of Cabernet I was consuming. I loved every minute of it.

Sunday was breakfast from Eleven City Diner and a day at Arlington Race Track with Fitz’s mom and sis. Sooo much fun- the venue itself is quite beautiful and it was my first time watching horse races. The weather cooperated beautifully and we even got to spend some time with my family, who coincidentally made an appearance for Family day. Other than a little sunburn, it was good stuff all around. We all walked away winners when “Feisty Fitz” pulled a victory in the final race- naturally my Fitz was ecstatic and insisted on having his photo taken with Fitz the horse.

A full weekend such as this was a tough thing to come down from- especially with the US Men’s Swim Team pulling a huge victory last night over France in last night’s Olympic competition! I was jumping up and down screaming on Fitz’s couch and then I couldn’t go to sleep- too keyed up with excitement! Congrats to all four swimmers- it’s still tough to shake the euphoria of watching that race!!!
