Three things to note

August 19, 2008

1. Ol’ Neckbeard has returned. That’s right, Kyle Orton is the ‘new’ starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears. May the Lord help us- we will need it.

2. Apparently, two men did not REALLY discover BigFoot in Georgia. I am both shocked and dismayed…and rolling my eyes.

3. Today my blog reached new heights and um, hits! Over 465 hits to be exact! I have a really huge, dorky smile on my face right now.

Given this situation, it only seems right to post a dorky photograph of myself (it is also one of Fitz’s favorites)

It looks like I have no hair

More Twilight films on the way?!

August 19, 2008

MTV has some great coverage of the upcoming Twilight movie, and each Tuesday, their breaking news is appropriately dubbed “Twilight Tuesday” (how original).

So this Twilight Tuesday featured an interview with Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper Hale in the film. Now keep in mind that everyone associated with the film has been very PC when it comes to discussing sequels (there are four total books in the series), because they want to “see how people respond to the first film and blah blah blah…”

I understand why people do this- you don’t want to end up putting your foot in your mouth if the first film turns out to be a flop. You also don’t want to sound arrogant or admit to something that doesn’t yet have financial backing or the actor’s support and commitment.

HOWEVER…you know darn well that Summit Entertainment already has screenwriters furiously working on sequels, as well as PA’s scouting locations. Keep in mind that in the Twilight series, VAMPIRES DO NOT AGE. Unfortunately for movie directors…actors and actresses do. So if they are going to shoot the next three films, they need to do it FAST as the main characters are supposed to remain 17 and 18 respectively.

So that brings me to my point (have you enjoyed my warbling thus far?). Jackson Rathbone slips up in his interview and lets it out that he has signed on for the next two sequels…therefore, it seems that SOMEONE has thought to get moving on these films before their actors get too old to the play the part.

Get excited Twilighters…

SPOILERS ABOUND: Lolo Jones Olympic Results

August 19, 2008

I’m warning you…if you don’t want to know what happened in today’s race, do NOT keep reading…

Alright, then.

It is with complete sadness and devastation that I reveal that a mistake on the second-to-last hurdle caused the gold medal to slip away from Lolo. She finished in 7th place.

It's okay, Lolo
It’s okay, Lolo

Congrats go out to American Dawn Harper, who finished first. She hails from the same hometown as former Olympian Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Without a doubt, this is a sad day for Lolo, but with the Olympics, there are many surprises of victory and defeat that make the games so addictively appealing.

Someone go give Lolo a hug!

Keep Fay at Bay

August 19, 2008

I spoke with my mom this morning (for those who don’t know she is a resident of Florida along with my sister-dog Josie), and Tropical Storm Fay is making her route around the area in which my mom lives. My mom’s home and dog are safely guarded but please keep them in your thoughts and prayers, as there is crazy strong wind and rain tearing through the neighborhood.

Run Lolo!

August 19, 2008
GO LOLO!!!

GO LOLO!!!

I know that everyone is psyched about Allison Felix but I’d like to introduce you to my favorite Olympic runner- Lolo Jones! Aside from her awesome name, and roots in Des Moines, IA (you know I love anything Iowa- except Ames), she is killer fast.

You simply must read about her amazing life and background in this great USA Today article here.

Pretty incredible, right? Last night April and I watched Lolo come in first place in the women’s hurdles semifinals. I can’t wait to watch her go for the gold!
