Midnight Sun Leak: Hoax or Genius Ploy to Conquer the World?

August 26, 2008

So Stephenie Meyer is presently writing a companion book to add to her Twilight series, and the book is called Midnight Sun. The premise is that this book will be Twilight all over again, only from Edwards’ point of view (a.k.a. the view of a vampire).

“So what’s the big deal???” you ask.

The big deal, my friend, is that twelve freakin’ chapters of this book have been leaked onto the Internet! The Twilight series has been ASTOUNDINGLY lucrative- naturally a book publisher would keep a book like this encased in a locked vault manned by security cameras and 4 guards toting machine guns.

But there is an odd twist to consider…you see, Stephenie Meyer has disclosed in interviews that she started writing this book for fun, as a character-building exercise, and that someday she may just publish the book on her website. HOWEVER, due to her vanity (self-described) and love of the characters, Meyer claimed that she so desperately desired to see a published version so that it could sit on her bookshelf next to the other four Twilight novels.

So where did this leak come from? Is it for real? Is it just added hype for the film release??? Will we ever know who killed President Kennedy? Is anybody even listening to me???!!! :)

A bit dramatic, I know. It’s par for the course.

***UPDATE: Anyone wondering whether or not I’ve found and whether or not I’ve read the elusive 12 chapters of Midnight Sun??? Well…I’ll never blog and tell!

‘We are choosing hope over fear’

August 26, 2008

I received a call from my friend Jeff today…and got the news that his mom was diagnosed with brain cancer. This was heartbreaking to hear- Jeff has been a great friend of mine for nearly six years. Immediately I assured him that both he and his family would stay in my thoughts and prayers. I then hesitantly asked about his mom’s prognosis…

“It’s…not good. But we have hope,” he said.

I couldn’t believe how strong and positive he sounded- I felt inspired. In trying to figure out how to support Jeff and his family, I thought it best to reach out to everyone with words. May today be a day in which you love openly, care deeply, act thoughtfully, and most of all…live gracefully. There is so much to be grateful for.

WARNING: Twilight Movie Spoiler Ahead

August 26, 2008

Well, I suppose if you’ve read the books, you already know this. But anyway…

Additional scenes are being shot for the Twilight film based on initial test audiences (kind of like focus groups who watch the movie and then give feedback- producers then take that feedback and implement in order to have a more successful, well-received film). MTV has the scoop as it is “Twilight Tuesday.” Gets me excited as I think they are working really hard to make this movie incredible- I like that because it would be so easy for Summit Entertainment to put out a sub-par movie and still make money, because the book franchise is so lucrative. It’s reassuring to know that they are not content with that- they want to bring Stephenie Meyer’s vision to life in the most moving, dramatic fashion!

Also, I’m secretly hoping that fans can nab more on-set photos as they continue to film! It’s so cool to see a book play out in reality, as well as see the behind-the-scenes action of a movie set. :)

Enjoy all the gory details here! WARNING: naturally there are some differentiators between the book and the movie. If you do NOT want details on who is involved in a particular scene of the film, do not click on the link above!

***UPDATE: It’s been announced that Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen), Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan), and Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black) will be presenting at the MTV Music Awards on Sept. 7th.

Tough cookies, Rex Grossman

August 26, 2008
Whatever

Whatever

Today in the Chicago Tribune, Rex Grossman disclosed that he’ll ‘never fully get over’ his demotion from starting quarterback to back up, and that he ‘doesn’t think anyone expects him to (get over it).’

Wow. Thanks for sharing, Rex.

Did I mention that I’ll ‘never fully get over’ watching my team lose in Superbowl XLI??? Watching you enfuriate Bears fans by your lack of consistency, resulting in getting BOOED while playing at Soldier Field?! I’d feel more assured and confident watching my grandma assume the role of starting quarterback.

Nothing is guaranteed in life, except death and taxes. This is your job and you need to show up everyday, ready to work, and protect your role on this team.

Naturally, I don’t expect you to ‘get over it;’ I expect you to practice and GET BETTER AT IT. There’s no crying in football.

Sincerely yours,
Kelly
