I made Fitz a breakfast burrito this past weekend and he LOVED it! I found a recipe online and tweaked it to my preference (SPICY! WITH VEGGIES!)
Ingredients:
*Your favorite Sausage (I used a smoky Tex-Mex sausage that I found at the Jewel- NICE!)
*Approx. 4 eggs
*Splash of milk
*Scallions
*Red onion
*2 Serrano Peppers
*Cilantro
*Pepperjack Cheese
*Flour Tortillas
Topping: Cumin Yogurt Sauce
*Cumin spice
*Vanilla Yogurt
*Low-fat Mayonnaise
*Two teaspoons of milk
Directions:
*Chop up scallion, red onion, and serrano peppers and combine into a bowl. I like lots of vegetables so I chop up enough to fill four eggs (imagine an omelet). Set bowl aside.
*Cook approximately three sausages in a pan until browned and ready for consumption.
*Crack four eggs in a bowl, stir, and add a splash of milk (if your a bartender, it’s about a 2-count)
*Pour bowl of chopped veggies into the bowl with eggs. Then pour into a sauce pan cooking on medium heat.
*While eggs are cooking, mix about a 1/2 cup yogurt with a little mayonnaise. Add lots of cumin spice- it is a mild seasoning so you don’t have to really worry about going over board unless you remove the cap and dump in all contents (which would make you an idiot- and I don’t have the patience to discuss how to solve that problem). Then add the little bit of milk. The result should be a semi-sweet and ultra-delicious topping that is far better for you then something mixed with sour cream.
*Grate some pepperjack cheese, and pull some cilantro leaves off the bunch (again, the amount of these ingriedients depends on your personal food preferences)
*Remove eggs from heat. Serve on a tortilla wrap and garnish with chopped sausage, cheese, cilantro, and cumin-yogurt sauce.
This recipe should yield about three breakfast burritos- I had one, Fitz had one….and then Fitz had seconds! Rave reviews all around!
Few notes:
-Serrano peppers are a glorious gift from god. They won’t kill your taste buds like jalepenos, but they still pack a punch.
-I probably would have added avocado to this recipe, but the grocery store didn’t have any ripe ones available

And I’ll be a married woman! And no, I’m not ready…I still have a million things on my checklist to take care of!
First things first…this Sunday, I’m OFFICIALLY moving in with Fitz (gulp).

My head is spinning- but in a good way. I cannot believe how soon this all goes down!
Sept. 19th is just around the corner…

It’s at this moment that I realize how old I am, and how much of a nerd I’ve become.

Ah bliss
Fitz and I were lucky enough to receive this amazing area rug as a wedding gift (off our registry) from some fantastic family friends. Who knew that an area rug could bring out the giddy girl within? I dragged the heavy beast it into the living room, moved furniture (while Fitz was still lounging in it, mind you), and mentally ran through a myriad of furniture arrangement options to see how the rug would best accent the room (this is the part that is so unlike me it’s almost laughable).
The finished product is pretty awesome as our great room is awash in really beautiful, rich fall colors…which reminds me of my favorite time of year: Autumn.
God, I’ve become such a nerd. But I love it!

Like Forrest Gump…that’s all I have to say about that.

Naturally, Flickr has been able to translate my mind’s thoughts into the image below. It’s titled:
“Do what you’re doing/ Say what you’re saying/ Go where you’re going/ Think what you’re thinking/ It sounds good me”

Isn’t that just beautiful and poignant and…cool? It’s all so relevant to me right now.

Oh…the emotion. I feel like I should be slumped lazily in a dark corner of a bar, silently mouthing the words to “What about love?” by Heart.
I’m not good at saying goodbye, folks. But sadly, today is the day where I have to say goodbye to two very awesome employees that are not only a total blast to work with, but they have become great friends of mine over the past year and half. Let’s face it- when you spend 10-12 hours a day with someone, it’s beneficial that you actually like each other and get along…because you practically see co-workers more then family and significant others!
These girls have become sisters to me and I can’t imagine coming into work on Monday and not exchanging pleasantries, asking about weekend events, or just sharing a laugh in general. Whether we are making cupcake runs, slapping high fives on a job well done, or telling jokes when stress kicks in, I will truly cherish the fantastic moments that will now be locked away within my memories. It just goes to show that all good things must come to an end (I hate when an old adage rings true- ARGH). One is moving back home (out of state) and the other is going back to school full time (she has been going part time for the past year). These are important personal endeavors and to them I extend my support and well wishes. Life points you in the direction in which you’re meant to pursue…I just wish it wasn’t so hard on my emotions!
Have a great day, readers.
P.S. Yeah, so I’ve been calling the wambulance a few times this week…so sue me!

I had the MOST incredible time: the people, the food, the history…I could go on and on and on and on (seriously…and on…). I want to go back to NOLA every year for the rest of my life- truly a special place.
Most surprsing element of the trip: Old women that eagerly flash their boobs, feeling so thrilled that someone actually wants to see them.
Most delicious food: bread pudding, ANYTHING with shrimp, and BEIGNETS
Best drink at the best bar: Hurricanes at Pat O’Briens
Most hurl-inducing moment: Fitz not telling me that he saw a cockroach the size of Tom Arnold on the floor of a gift shop I was in.
Best meal and worst service: Strange combo, right? But Commander’s Palace has incredible food with the most unorganized wait staff. Tragic.
Strongest moment of realization: Being in a voodoo shop, and overhearing someone thoroughly discuss the harm she wanted to cause those in her church for criticizing her ‘out of church’ activities. Turns out I’m not into voodoo after all!
Moment of contemplation: Touring the Ninth Ward, viewing FEMA trailers, and hurricane Katrina damage. I cried. It was painful
Coolest cribs: Anne Rice’s home has tiny skulls woven into the gate, and Archie & Olivia Manning’s famous football-throwing sons did not exactly have to ‘rough it’ or share bathrooms growing up.
To everyone’s shock and awe: Fitz and I do NOT enjoy muffalettas…sorry, we just don’t do olives.
Moment of realizing how small I really am: Viewing the historical corn-cob fence…that pre-dates the civil war. MINDBLOWING to think of those who stood before it.
Bizarrely cool: Louisiana cemeteries and above-ground tombs and graves. Fascinating and creepy all at once. They are beautifully ornate!

Good times

Here for the party

Exploring the dark side
